The Bobby Moore Fund for Cancer Research UK
Helping raise vital funds for research into bowel cancer and increase public awareness of the disease…
“I’m overjoyed that the Team England Footballers Charity is supporting the Bobby Moore Fund for Cancer Research UK and know that Bobby would have been delighted. The team’s help and involvement will increase awareness of the disease and raise funds for vital research. This will ultimately save lives.”
Stephanie Moore MBE, Bobby’s widow & Founder of the Bobby Moore Fund
Stephanie Moore MBE, Founder of the Bobby Moore Fund for Cancer Research UK said:
“44 men and women die every day in the UK from bowel cancer. It is the second highest cause of cancer-related death in this country, yet if bowel cancer is detected early, more than eight out of ten cases could be successfully treated. I am indebted to the England squad for choosing to support the Bobby Moore Fund for Cancer Research UK. Bobby was the England captain in 1966 and he would have been extremely proud to be associated with the national team today. Our partnership with the England squad will make a huge difference to thousands of lives. By working together, we will beat cancer.”
The Bobby Moore Fund for Cancer Research UK raises vital funds for research into bowel cancer and increases public awareness of the disease. The Fund was set up by Stephanie Moore MBE in memory of her husband, footballer Bobby Moore, after he tragically died from the disease in 1993. The money raised by the Bobby Moore Fund is spent by Cancer Research UK on high-quality bowel cancer research carried out by leading scientists working across the UK.
The Bobby Moore Fund is part of Cancer Research UK (Registered Charity No. 1089464).
