CHILDREN’S HOSPICES UK
Children’s Hospices UK is the national voice of 41 children’s hospice services throughout the UK…
It’s every parent’s worst nightmare to be told their child will die before them. But for an estimated 20,000 families across the UK, this is a reality. In most cases, full-time care falls to the parents 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Not surprisingly the whole family is under huge emotional, physical and financial strain.
Children’s hospices are places where the needs of these families are the priority, helping them make the most of the precious time they have left. They welcome the family for a break together in a home-from-home environment, or, if they prefer, in the comfort of their own home, sharing in the care of the child, providing essential respite from the 24 hour care routine. And, when the time comes, they can provide terminal care, supporting the family and helping them and the child meet death with dignity and peace.
Children’s Hospices UK is the national voice of 41 children’s hospice services throughout the UK. Children’s Hospices UK works hard to ensure that every life-limited child and their family has access to a children’s hospice service that’s able to them offer the best possible care and support for every step of their journey.
“Children’s Hospices UK is proud to be chosen as one of the Team England Footballer’s Charities. Our partnership with the England football team is about much more than raising funds. Through this relationship we are able to raise awareness of the vital and unique work that children’s hospice services do caring and supporting children who will not live to reach adulthood. It also gives a huge boost to the children that we support to have this connection with their heroes, and that in itself is priceless!” says Julian Hall, Director of Fundraising.
